Rajma Chawal Recipe ! How to Make Restaurant Style Rajma Chawal

Rajma chawal is made from red kidney beans with onion & tomato gravy. This delicious North Indian Dish is super easy to make—all you have to blend a few ingredients and cook with few spices. Rajma curry is a popular north Indian dish; it is best served with plain steamed rice. So the Combo of Rajma and Chawal Is Known As Rajma Chawal.

This homemade recipe is not heavily spiced as no cream is used. It is a great Dish for kids lunch box too, as it is one of the favorite dish among the Children.

So, Without Wasting Time Let’s look at the Ingredients required To make Rajma Chawal

Ingredients to make Rajma Curry:

Soak 200 grams of Red Kidney beans in enough water for 7 to 8 hours or Overnight

Chopped onions – 2

Chopped Garlic Cloves – 6

Grated Ginger

Finely Chopped Green Chillies – 2

Grated Tomatoes – 2

Coriander Leaves

Red chili powder – 1 Tsp

Half teaspoon turmeric powder

Black pepper – 1 Tsp

Garam masala powder – 1 Tsp

Dry Mango Powder – 1 Tsp

Cumin Seeds – 1 Tsp

Salt to taste

Butter or Oil – 1 Tbsp

Rajma-curry

Ingredients to make Rice for Rajma Chawal

Basmati Rice/Normal Rice – 1 Cup

Water 2 Cups (Depends upon the Rice Quality)

Oil – Half Tsp

Salt to Taste

For Garnishing

Butter

Coriander Leaves

Preparation of Rajma Chawal

Rinse the Soaked Rajma in Fresh Water, Drain it, and Keep It Aside.

Put the Pressure cooker In Medium Flame on The Stove

Add Rajma

Now, Add chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, Grated ginger, garlic & green chilies.

It’s Time To add spices now to it such as – cumin seeds, Red chili powder, turmeric powder.

Add salt according To your Taste.

Pour 1 Cup of water in the mixture.

Stir very well.

Add Butter or oil to the Pan

Mix all The Ingredients well

Tightly cover the pressure cooker for 6 to 8 whistles on a high flame.

Once the pressure cooker cools down, open the lid

Rajma must be cooked Completely.

Taste a few Rajma and make sure they should be melt while you put in your Mouth.

Once the Rajma Got cooked, then check the gravy also.

Put the pan On the Stove and keep it To Medium Flame

Keep the Rajma gravy on the pan

Add related Powders for Better taste Like dry mango powder and Garam masala powder.

Stir it, till the gravy Becomes Thick

Mash some Of the Rajma Beans with the help of Cup or Spoon.

When the consistency of the Rajma Curry Thickens.

Add Salt To Taste

Add Coriander Leaves At last

Your Rajma Curry For Rajma Chawal Is Ready is ready.

Although, you can serve rajma curry with Chapatis, Rotis, parathas, rice, or bread.

Now its Time to Prepare Rice For Rajma Chawal

Take a bowl of Rice and Start to rinse the rice grains in running water.

Soak the Basmati Rice Grains in water for 20 minutes.

Drain the water from rice and keep it aside.

Put The Pressure Cooker on the Stove.

Add water to it.

Use the proportion of 1:2 of rice and water, for Example For every 1 cup of rice, pour 2 cups water in it.

In Some cases, you can add 1.75 cups of, Actually It Depends upon the Quality of the rice you Are taking.

Add butter, ghee, or oil to it.

Now, Add salt according to you taste.

When the Water starts boiling put the Rice In It

Mix the rice in it

Cover the Pressure Cooker with Lid and Leave it For 3 to 4 whistles.

Rice takes about 10 to 15 minutes for the rice grains to become soft and fluffy.

The cooking time will vary with the Quality of rice grains and the intensity of the flame.

After the rice is cooked, give a resting time of 5 minutes.

Pour the Rajma gravy on top of the rice.

Mix It Well inside the Pressure Cooker

After Mixing, Take It In a Bowl Or Plate
